A major fire broke out in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Jalandhar Civil Hospital early Tuesday morning, triggering panic among patients, attendants, and hospital staff. The incident occurred at around 5 a.m. when thick smoke rapidly filled the ward. Thanks to the swift response of hospital security personnel and staff, all four newborn babies admitted to the unit were evacuated safely before the situation worsened.
