A liquor store situated in the Pratap Bagh area in Jalandhar was engulfed in fire around 3:30 AM on Friday. As soon the shop caught fire the flames quickly spread across the road. The sound of the bottles exploding inside the shop could be heard in the surrounding residences. At the moment when the fire broke out, the shop salesman, Sachin, was sleeping inside the store. The salesman recounts that when he woke up, he felt suffocated and could feel the heat from the fire. On inspection, he saw the fire and panicked. He quickly opened the shutter and ran outside the shop. And within moments, he saw the store burned to the ground. He immediately informed the store owner, later the fire brigade team arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. According to the reports it took four fire engines and more than half an hour to control the flame.
