Long-running property dispute cited by complainant
Sunny has told police that the confrontation stems from a dispute over an adjoining property. He claimed that his family purchased their property in 1988 and that the dispute over the adjoining land and access has continued for around 10 years, with a case pending in court.
The written complaint also refers to the ongoing property disagreement and alleges that the confrontation was connected to work being undertaken on the neighbouring land. A firing incident was reported outside the DIG office in Ludhiana on Wednesday after a man was allegedly assaulted, his car windows were damaged and shots were reportedly fired in the air. The incident took place in the area under Kailash Chowki of Division No. 8 police station.
CCTV footage reportedly captures three men near the spot along with a white Swift car, providing investigators with potential leads.
Complaint links confrontation to adjoining property
According to the written complaint submitted by the victim, Sunny, he had gone to the DIG office with a friend and parked his car outside before going inside to collect account-related slips.
The complaint states that when he came back outside, several men were present and a dispute began over work being carried out on an adjoining property. Sunny alleged that the men questioned him about why he had stopped their workers from carrying out work.
The complaint further alleges that the argument escalated, after which he was attacked with a stick and his car was damaged. These allegations are also reflected in reports based on the police complaint.
Air firing allegation yet to be independently established
Sunny has alleged that the attackers fired shots into the air while leaving the spot. However, SHO Amritpal Sharma said police had received a complaint regarding firing but no empty cartridge case had been recovered during the initial investigation.
Therefore, the firing allegation remains part of the ongoing police investigation and should not be treated as independently established at this stage.
CCTV shows white Swift and suspects
The CCTV footage has emerged as an important part of the investigation. Reports say the footage shows three men at the location and a white Swift parked nearby. Police are examining the footage to establish the identities of those involved and reconstruct the sequence of events.

Police investigating allegations and identifying suspects
Police have begun examining the CCTV footage and other available evidence. A report by Dainik Jagran says the complaint names one person, while also alleging that unidentified men were involved; the allegation that someone had sent the attackers is a claim made by the complainant and has not been established by police.
At this stage, the verified position is that a complaint has been received, CCTV footage is available, an assault and property-damage allegation is being investigated, and police have not recovered an empty cartridge case so far. The investigation will establish whether shots were actually fired and who was responsible.
