The Sher-E-Punjab T20 League has created a new platform for Punjab’s cricketing talent, with city-based franchises bringing together established domestic names and promising young players. Representing one of Punjab’s major sporting cities, the Jalandhar Warriors will look to make their presence felt in the competition.
With Prabhsimran Singh leading the side, Jalandhar have a captain capable of influencing games with both the bat and behind the stumps.
A Captain at the Centre
Prabhsimran Singh is arguably the biggest name in the Jalandhar Warriors setup. The wicketkeeper-batter is known for his attacking approach, particularly at the top of the order, making him an important player in the Warriors’ T20 plans.
However, the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League presents him with a different responsibility — leadership.
As captain, Prabhsimran will have to manage a squad containing several young players, make tactical decisions during crucial phases and lead by example. His performances could have a direct impact on Jalandhar’s campaign.
From playing for Punjab Kings to being a captain of Jalandhar warriors
The Punjab wicketkeeper-batter has been part of the Punjab Kings setup for several seasons and was retained by the franchise for IPL 2026. His most recent IPL campaign also showed what he can bring to the top of the order. In a crucial 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants, Prabhsimran smashed an impressive 69 off just 39 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes, and played a key role in Punjab Kings' successful 197-run chase. He also stitched together a 140-run partnership with captain Shreyas Iyer.
Jalandhar Warriors’ Young Core
The Warriors have built a squad with considerable emphasis on emerging Punjab talent. The team includes players such as Emanjot Singh Chahal, Vishwa Pratap Singh, Abhinav Sharma, Sukhdeep Bajwa, Anmol Malhotra, Mayank Gupta, Yash Karan, Harjas Singh Tandon, Aryan Yadav and Shaanvir Kalsi.
For many of these players, the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League could provide an important opportunity to perform on a bigger stage and establish themselves in Punjab’s competitive cricket structure.
The combination of youth and experience gives Jalandhar an interesting balance. While the younger players bring energy and unpredictability, the experienced members of the squad will be expected to provide stability when games become tight.
The Sher-E-Punjab Test
For Jalandhar Warriors, the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League is more than a short tournament. It is a chance to give the city its own cricketing identity and provide Punjab’s next generation with a competitive platform.
If Prabhsimran Singh can convert his individual talent into effective leadership, and Jalandhar’s young core can deliver under pressure, the Warriors could emerge as one of the teams to watch.
