Sufi singer and BJP leader Hans Raj Hans has distanced himself from active politics and now solely focusing on music. When asked about the recent Chandigarh elections held for the post of Mayor in which the BJP candidate Saurabh Joshi won, he says that he is now unaware about what is happening in the political world and where or when elections are taking place and who is winning. Speaking to the media at the Jalandhar Press Club on Thursday he says that now his sole focus is on music and his practice.
He also extended his greetings to everyone for Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji Jayanati saying that Guru Ravidass Maharaj ji was a messiah of the poor and rejected the caste system. He says that ‘Begampura’ could serve as national anthem as it signifies a place where there is no disparity.
Other than that, talking about the threat that had been issued by a Khalistani organization just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit the singer says that, may god have mercy on us and free us from all these evils. He further adds that anyone visiting Punjab should be able to do so without any fear or threat. He prays that no such tragic news ever be heard in Punjab. Talking about the recent bomb threat received at the Punjab and Haryana Secretariat in Chandigarh he says it is serious matter and the concerned authorities must take action on this. When asked whether or not he will meet the Prime Minister during his visit to Jalandhar, he says “I have met PM Modi several times earlier, and one can only meet the king at the king’s will.” He then again asserts that he is currently trying to keep is focus on his music only.
