Harbhajan Singh, who was recently detained in connection with an alleged prison drug supply case, was seen in a video showing him at a retirement party

Deputy Jail Superintendent Harbhajan Singh, who was recently detained in connection with an alleged prison drug supply case, was seen in a video showing him at a retirement party. According to sources, the video allegedly shows Harbhajan Singh attending the retirement function of a jail sub-inspector, where an undertrial prisoner, who was reportedly out on bail at the time, can be seen dancing with him and showering currency notes during the celebration.

Video under scrutiny

The video, which has now reached the media, is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation. Sources claimed that the retired sub-inspector had allegedly invited the undertrial to the party, where Harbhajan Singh was also present. Officials have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the video or whether it will form part of the evidence in the investigation.

Retired official may also be questioned

Following the finding of the video, sources said the retired jail sub-inspector may also be questioned to determine the circumstances under which the undertrial attended the private function. Investigators are examining whether any prison rules or official protocols were violated.

Allegations under investigation

Sources alleged that Harbhajan Singh used his position to exert pressure on officials involved in taking action against drug-related activities inside the jail. However, these allegations are currently under investigation and have not been independently verified by the police. Harbhajan Singh remains in custody as investigators continue questioning him regarding the allegations linked to the reported drug supply network inside the Hoshiarpur Central Jail.

SIT uncovered alleged network

According to Hoshiarpur SSP Dr. Sandeep Malik, an SIT headed by SP Major Singh was constituted to investigate the allegations. During the probe, investigators allegedly uncovered an organised network involved in smuggling mobile phones and narcotic substances into the jail in exchange for money. Police have alleged that the network involved jail officials, inmates and persons operating outside the prison.
