Harmanpreet Kaur was born on March 8, 1989, in the village of Duneke in the Moga district of Punjab. Her father, Harminder Singh Bhullar, is a volleyball and basketball player. Her mother, Satwinder Kaur, is a homemaker.
Harmanpreet Kaur's cricketing talent was uncovered when a boy's cricket match was in progress at Guru Nanak Stadium in Moga. Harman was passing by with her father during that time. Coach Sondhi was present during the boys' match. During the match, the ball went out of the field, and Harmanpreet ran and threw it. Coach Sondhi appreciated Harmabn's powerful throw.
Thereafter, the coach encouraged her father, Harminder Singh Bhullar, to introduce his daughter to cricket. After this, Coach Sondhi began teaching her in the village of Duneke. As per reports, she was trained at Gian Jyoti School Academy.
Harmanpreet Kaur made her ODI debut for India in 2009, against Pakistan.
