Heavy rain forecast in Punjab: Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar to witness wet spell—Report

Jalandhar will be sunny on Thursday with a high of 33°C. There are chances of showers on Friday.

Punjab is to experience a new spell of monsoon rains with weathermen predicting heavy showers in Jalandhar, Amritsar and Ludhiana from Friday. The showers will peak at their intensity between Saturday and Monday, ending the recent spells of heat. Day temperatures will fall by 3 to 5 degrees in the three cities.

Jalandhar forecast

Thursday will be mostly sunny in Jalandhar with the temperature also crossing 33°C. There are light showers on Friday. The weekend will see strengthening spells, particularly Saturday and Sunday. The rain is expected to extend into Monday and Tuesday, maintaining the highest temperatures at 29–30°C. Drizzle can continue through the week.

Amritsar forecast

Amritsar also is bracing for a rain weekend, with the maximum possibility of rain on Sunday. The mercury will dip to a low of 28°C on Tuesday and Monday to provide respite to the citizens from the heat. The rainy spell should continue until the end of the next week.

Ludhiana forecast

Thursday in Ludhiana will begin partly sunny, but work will intensify on Friday in rain. Between Saturday and Monday, heavy patches of rain will reduce maximum temperatures to about 29°C. Showers with different intensities will continue for the remainder of the week. 

Advisory

Citizens have been asked by the administration to make prudent trips as heavy rains may cause water logging in low-lying areas and traffic. Commuters have been asked to take an umbrella or raincoat along, drive slow on wet routes, and avoid unnecessary travel during the hours of heavy rain.
