Heavy rains in Punjab: School holidays extended till 3rd September

All schools in the state to remain closed as flood concerns rise

In view of heavy rainfall and rising flood concerns across the state, the Punjab government has extended school holidays till 3rd September 2025.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced that following the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, all government, aided, recognized, and private schools will remain closed. The move comes as authorities aim to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school staff during the ongoing adverse weather conditions.

School principals and authorities have been instructed to strictly follow the government’s orders and communicate the updates to students, parents, and staff. Officials have also been advised to stay alert and follow further instructions from the education department as the situation evolves.

The government emphasized that the extended holidays will allow sufficient recovery time before schools resume regular academic activities and appealed to all stakeholders for cooperation during this challenging period.
