Complaint raises food safety concerns
A food safety complaint has been raised against Nik Baker’s Sector 7 outlet in Chandigarh after a customer allegedly found insects in a serving of Thai Curry.
According to the complaint, the customer noticed the alleged presence of insects in the food and approached the Food Safety Department along with other female customers. The complaint prompted officials to inspect the restaurant and examine the hygiene conditions at the premises.
Food safety team conducts inspection
Following the complaint, a Food Safety Department team visited the outlet. Food Safety official Nisha said the department received the complaint and she inspected the premises on the directions of senior authorities.
During the inspection, officials reportedly observed issues related to hygiene at the outlet. The department is now proceeding with a challan over alleged unhygienic practices.
The inspection comes as food safety authorities continue to monitor complaints related to food preparation, storage and hygiene at eateries.
Food sample to be tested
Officials are also expected to collect a food sample from the restaurant for further examination.
The sample testing will be important in determining whether the food served to the customer contained any foreign material and whether it met the required food safety standards. Until the examination is completed, the exact cause of the alleged contamination cannot be established.
Further action depends on findings
The complaint has brought attention to hygiene practices at the Sector 7 outlet, while the Food Safety Department’s inspection and testing will determine the next course of action.
For consumers, the incident also highlights the importance of reporting suspected food safety violations to the authorities so that complaints can be formally investigated.
