Inside Sarbjit Kaur’s disappearance; From pilgrim to ‘Noor Hussain’-Criminal background surfaces

Kapurthala Police confirm Sarbjit Kaur faces three fraud and cheating cases, while her sons Lovejot and Navjot are named in over ten criminal cases.

In a surprising turn that's caught the attention of officials on both sides, Sarbjit Kaur - a woman from Amanipur village in Kapurthala, Punjab - has gone missing during a spiritual trip to Pakistan; she’s said to have taken up Islam while there, tying the knot with a local guy called Nasir Hussain.

The disappearance

Sarbjet Kaur joined a group of 1,932 Sikhs who walked across the Attari-Wagah crossing into Pakistan on November 4, 2025, to mark Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary at Nankana Sahib. Though nearly everyone came back without issues, there's no trace of her in Pakistan’s departure data or India’s arrival records - so several agencies kicked off an inquiry

Conversion and marriage

Documents plus a shared nikahnama show Sarbjit Kaur started using Noor Hussain after tying the knot with Nasir Hussain - a man from Sheikhupura, Pakistan - at a local mosque. This union took place following Muslim customs, according to paperwork and people nearby

Criminal history

Sarbjit Kaur's history? It’s tangled up in scandal. Cops from Kapurthala say she was involved in three old crimes - mostly scams and dishonesty. Her kids, Lovejot Singh along with Navjot Singh, are tied to more than ten legal troubles spread through stations at Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi, or even Kabirpur. Some of those court matters haven't ended yet

Her passport came from the Jalandhar office back in January 2024 - showed her home town as Malout, Muktsar, plus used her dad's name rather than her spouse's. When she entered Pakistan, though, officials noticed she didn't fill in her citizenship or passport number on the entry form, which made them doubt if her papers were legit

Facebook connection and Nasir’s background

Locals are guessing that Sarbjit Kaur reached out to Nasir Hussain on Facebook before she left. Because of this online chat, she might’ve chosen to remain in Pakistan. Rumors say Nasir has a past involving crimes there - making things even murkier.

Family and husband

Sarbjit Kaur's husband, Karnail Singh, moved to England more than 15 years ago. Meanwhile, her sons - released on bail - are still dealing with court issues back in India

Looking into things but people are worried

Indian authorities are looking into what happened - trying to figure out if Sarbjit Kaur acted on her own or someone pushed her. This situation stirred worry among Sikhs and local leaders, showing how tricky religious trips across borders can be, so better protections might be needed.
