IPL 2026: THIS cricketer from Jalandhar joins Mumbai Indians

He has been brought in as a replacement for Atharva Ankolekar who has been ruled out due to injury

In a big opportunity for local talent 21-year-old cricketer Krish Bhagat from Jalandhar has been signed by Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2026 season and he has been brought in as a replacement for Atharva Ankolekar who has been ruled out due to injury.

Joins at ₹30 lakh

According to an official IPL statement Krish Bhagat has joined the team at a base price of ₹30 lakh and he is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and represents Punjab in domestic cricket and so far he has played 7 First-Class matches and 9 List A matches. He has also scored a half-century in List A cricket showing his ability to contribute with the bat as well.

All-rounder abilities

Krish has been associated with Mumbai Indians for the past two years through trials and he also played for the Reliance team in the DY Patil T20 Cup 2026 and worked as a support bowler with the team during the pre-season and his all-round abilities are expected to add balance to the squad.

Mohinder Bhagat’s nephew

It is worth noting that Krish Bhagat is the nephew of Punjab Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat. Meanwhile Mumbai Indians started their IPL 2026 campaign with a win against Kolkata Knight Riders but have since faced three consecutive losses against Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The team is currently placed ninth in the points table.
