Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said that Sanjeev Arora's long-awaited dream project in Ludhiana's Habbowal area is set to move forward soon.
According to the Chief Minister, the project is linked to the dairy industry in the Habbowal area and said waste generated by dairies often creates problems and affects sewage treatment plants (STPs), leading to operational issues.
Mann said the proposed project aims to address this problem through a compressed biogas plant and the initiative is expected to convert dairy waste into biogas, which can then be used as a source of energy.
The Chief Minister described the compressed biogas plant as one of Sanjeev Arora's dream projects and said he had been eager to see its inauguration.
Mann also indicated that Sanjeev Arora would soon be among the people again, and added that he is soon going to meet him adding that he would carry the public's love and affection with him.
ED arrested Arora on May 9, 2026, following searches at his official residence in Chandigarh and other linked locations and he was taken into custody in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged fake GST billing and export fraud case, according to the ED, the case involves an alleged fake GST fraud worth more than ₹100 crore.
What is ED probing?
According to the ED, Arora allegedly coordinated a network of shell companies, bogus suppliers and fabricated export documents to show the export of nearly 44,000 iPhones to Dubai. However, investigators claim that the consignments never actually left India and existed only on paper, allowing the accused to claim export-related financial benefits while disguising the proceeds of crime.
The agency alleges that the fake mobile phone business was shown to be worth over ₹150 crore. More than ₹100 crore worth of iPhones were purportedly exported to two Dubai-based companies Fortbel Telecom FZCO and Dragon Global FZCO — which are also under the scanner. According to the ED, one of these firms had links with investments in Arora's real estate company, raising suspicion over the financial transactions.
