Jalandhar: ₹6 Lakh missing after roadside fight—was the cash stolen during the chaos?

According to the trader, around ₹5–6 lakh in cash that he had collected from market recoveries was missing from the bag.

Jalandhar cash theft case, after a local trader alleged that ₹5–6 lakh kept inside his SUV went missing following an argument with three unidentified men.

The incident took place around 11 pm near Oxford Hospital, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Division No. 6. Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the area.

Collision Followed by Heated Argument

According to trader Vishal Kundra, a resident of Basti Gujjan who deals in wholesale gas stoves, he was travelling from Guru Nanak Mission Chowk towards Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk when his Thar collided with a WagonR.

Kundra said he had briefly applied the brakes after receiving a phone call from home, following which his vehicle lightly struck the car ahead. The collision reportedly damaged the WagonR's light.

He allegedly told the occupants that he would compensate them for the damage, estimated at around ₹5,000–10,000.

Three Men Allegedly Took Car Keys

Kundra alleged that three unidentified men got out of the WagonR and began arguing and abusing him. He further claimed that the men attempted to assault him and forcibly took his Thar's key.

During the commotion, the key reportedly fell onto the road and was later recovered from behind the vehicle.

The situation escalated as people began gathering at the spot. The three men allegedly fled from the scene.

₹5–6 Lakh Found Missing From Bag

After the men left, Kundra's relatives and son reportedly reached the spot. When they checked the bag kept inside the Thar, they allegedly found its zipper open.

According to the trader, around ₹5–6 lakh in cash that he had collected from market recoveries was missing from the bag.

The exact circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the cash are now being investigated by police.

ACP Manmohan Singh Gives Police Update

ACP Model Town Manmohan Singh said police are investigating the alleged removal of cash from the trader's vehicle near Guru Nanak Mission Chowk.

According to the ACP, the complainant stated that the incident occurred after his car collided with another vehicle. The occupants of the other vehicle allegedly argued with him, removed his car key and threw it away, before allegedly taking cash from a bag inside the vehicle and fleeing.

Police have formed teams to investigate the matter.

CCTV Footage Being Examined

Investigators are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the suspects and establish the sequence of events.

Police are also using technical investigation methods and human intelligence to trace those allegedly involved.

The case has raised questions over whether the cash was stolen during the roadside confrontation or whether there was any other sequence of events leading to its disappearance. Police said further legal action will follow once the suspects are identified and the investigation establishes the facts.
