Jalandhar Administration seeks army help to strengthen eroding dhussi bundh

Sant Seechewal and DC Jalandhar lead round-the-clock efforts at Mandala Chhanna site

The Jalandhar Administration has sought the assistance of the Army to reinforce the eroding Dhussi Bundh near village Mandala Chhanna, where large-scale protective works are underway to avert a potential flood threat.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal along with ADC Jasbir Singh, SDM Shubhi Angra, DSP Onkar Singh Brar, has been camping at the site to oversee the strengthening operations, being carried out under the leadership of Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal. They, along with officials of drainage department and hundreds of volunteers from the Sangat, have been working day and night to secure the vulnerable stretch of the embankment.

Dr. Aggarwal informed that the situation remains under close watch, and with the Army’s deployment, additional manpower and technical support will bolster the ongoing efforts. “The participation of the Army will accelerate the strengthening process and ensure the bundh is safeguarded before any untoward situation arises,” he said.

Sant Seechewal lauded the collective spirit of the local community, officials, and now the Army, working shoulder to shoulder in what he described as a “mission to protect lives and livelihoods.”

Both Sant Seechewal and Dr. Aggarwal expressed confidence that the Dhussi Bundh would be fortified in time, preventing any flood-like situation in the area.

They reiterated the Punjab Government’s commitment to safeguarding people from the crisis and assured that every possible resource is being mobilized to protect the villages.
