President of India, Droupadi Murmu conferred Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 Awards at Vigyan Bhagwan, New Delhi hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
23 Super Swachh League Cities received felicitations in the presence of Union Minister, Manohar Lal and MoS, MoHUA, Tokhan Sahu.
The new generation of clean cities of India have arrived with Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Lucknow emerging as top Swachh Shehar. 43 National awards have been announced, with a special recognition for Mahakumbh.
In the meantime, Jalandhar has emerged as the third cleanest city of Punjab. As per reports, Jalandhar Municipal Corporation has jumped 157 places, from 239th to 82nd rank in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25, under the 3–10 lakh population category.
The top two ranked cities of Punjab are Bathinda and Patiala.
Punjab's Bathinda ranks 26 in Promising Swachh Shehar of State/UT category.
Furthermore, Chandigarh is ranked number 2 in overall India in 3-10 lakh population category.
Notably, this is the first time Jalandhar has also received the prestigious “Water Plus” certification, earning 1200 points and setting a new benchmark for sanitation efforts in the city.
