A serious road accident took place late at night at Chunmun Chowk in Jalandhar where a Mahindra Thar and another car collided and as per the information both vehicles were badly damaged in the impact and the force of the collision was so strong that airbags in the vehicles were deployed.
Eyewitnesses have suggested that the accident may have happened due to high speed although the exact cause is still under investigation. Police said that two women were inside one of the cars at the time of the accident and the women sustained serious injuries and were immediately taken to nearby hospital for treatment.
During a check of the damaged vehicle school report cards and several trophies belonging to children were found inside the car and this has led to the possibility that the family may have been returning from a school function or some kind of ceremony however police have not officially confirmed this.
Visuals from the accident site show both vehicles badly mangled and one of the cars was crushed heavily on one side with parts scattered on the road after the crash. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and took both vehicles into custody. Officials are now reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to find out the exact sequence of events and determine responsibility.
