Jalandhar drug raid: Gupta Medical Agencies under scrutiny as Dilkusha Market faces checks

Drug team raids Gupta Agencies in Jalandhar’s Dilkusha Market

A joint team of the Jalandhar Police and Health Department conducted raids at several medicine shops in the wholesale Dilkusha Market on Monday as part of a special drive against drug trafficking.

Teams inspect medicine stocks and records

The operation was led by Drug Inspectors Anupama Kalia, Sudha, Parminder Singh and Dinesh Sampla. During the raid, officials inspected medicines, stock and sales records at Gupta Agencies.

The checking was carried out to verify the availability and sale of medicines and ensure compliance with regulations amid the ongoing crackdown on drug-related activities.

Defective refrigerator seized

According to an official present at the spot, a refrigerator used for storing medicines at Gupta Agencies was found to be defective and not in working condition. The team seized the refrigerator during the inspection. Along with this a lot of medicines that require specialised storage were not stored as per requirements and therefore were recovered by the team. They affirmed that the medicines could be damaged if not stored in right conditions.

As per the drug and cosmetic act 18 types of medicines were recovered from the store

The exact quantity and details of the medicines were not immediately disclosed.

Raids trigger concern among shopkeepers

The teams simultaneously conducted checks at multiple shops in the wholesale medicine market. News of the raids quickly spread through the area, causing concern among nearby shopkeepers.

Officials continued scrutinising medicine stocks, sales and records as part of the ongoing special drive aimed at curbing the misuse and illegal supply of medicines. For further action, the reports will be handed on to the higher authorities and the seizure will be presented in court.
