Jalandhar E-Challan: Know the 3 offences that the CCTVs are monitoring in Phase 1

Jalandhar city is now being monitored in real time through the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) and E-Challan system is now operationalised.

Jalandhar E-Challan System went live on Monday after Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav visited the city and inaugurated it. Accompanied by Jalandhar CP Dhanpreet Kaur, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, and Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Rishi, the DGP said that after SAS Nagar (Mohali), Jalandhar has become the second city in Punjab to operationalize this state-of-the-art system.

In the first phase, E-Challan system has been operationalised at 13 chowks of Jalandhar. The city will now be monitored in real time through the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC). Giving details, IPS Vineet stated that the Integrated Command and Control Center will operate 24 hours a day. He further stated that traffic violators will get E-Challan within 15-20 seconds.

IPS officer Vineet further informed that although E-Challan in Jalandhar will be strictly operationalise after two to three weeks, CCTVs will keep a watch on 3 offences in the first phase.

IPS Vineet said, "Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav inaugurated Intelligence Traffic Management System in Jalandhar. We also showcased a demo of the system to Punjab DGP and CP Dhanpreet Kaur. We have installed Visual Display Board at 30 locations of the city. We are making people aware that you all are under CCTV surveillance and if you violate traffic you can issued E-Challan. Many people complain that traffic police does not behave properly especially the Interpersonal Communication thing, so it is a step to minimize such incidents with transparency."

"DGP Sir (Gaurav Yadav) has functionalised the E-Challan system 13 Chowks of Jalandhar. Chowks like PAP Chowk, Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, Sri Ambedkar Chowk, Workshop Chowk, etc have been functionalised," said IPS officer Vineet.

3 offences that CCTVs will be monitoring in Jalandhar

The officer said, "3 things that our cameras will essentially be monitoring are red light violations, overspeeding and wrong-side driving. For now we are trying to spread awareness. We are not making it totally strict for now but slowly after 2 to 3 weeks once awareness spreads, we will strictly operationalise it."

"Yes, E Challan has been started from today. During peak hours when traffic flow is too much, if vehicles cross red light then our system will note those vehicle and will share details with us in a tabular form. Then, operators here will check the snaps shared by the feed. Therefore, there will be no iota of doubt that challan will be issued on vehicles who claim that they have not jumped the red light. We have the details of RTOs as well. We match with the vehicles as well."
