Jalandhar food street to be set up in Company Bagh, 36 stalls to be built

A total of 36 stalls will be set up in Jalandhar Food Street, offering popular dishes like golgappe, thalis, and Mughlai delicacies.

The people of Jalandhar will soon be able to enjoy food street in the city. The Foundation Stone of Jalandhar's first food street approved by Municipal Corporation was laid by Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli on Monday near the parking area at Shri Ram Chowk.

Jalandhar food street will be set up in Company Bagh for the public at a cost of Rs 1.19 crore. A total of 36 stalls will be set up, offering popular dishes like golgappe, thalis, and Mughlai delicacies.

The design has also been finalized. The corporation will begin construction soon. The placement of these shops facing each other will provide convenient seating.

Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Kohli said that such projects will play a vital role in advancing Jalandhar towards becoming a smart city. He added that the Food Street will not only benefit local residents but also attract tourists, offering them a wide variety of hygienic food options in a clean and safe environment. Kohli further assured that the project will be completed within the stipulated timeline without compromising on quality.

Mayor Vaneet Dhir highlighted that providing better infrastructure facilities to citizens remains the top priority of the Municipal Corporation.

He said that the new Food Street will generate employment opportunities while also giving Jalandhar a fresh identity. “This Food Street will become a new landmark for the city, and residents will soon see its positive impact,” Dhir remarked.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony witnessed the presence of several city dignitaries, including Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli, Mayor Vaneet Dhir, Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Rishi, Senior Deputy Mayor Balbir Bittu, and Deputy Mayor Malkit Subhana.
