Jalandhar Horror: Grandparents kill 6-month-old girl and dump body behind toll plaza, arrested

The maternal Diljeet Kaur and maternal grandfather Tarsem Singh were arrested for the murder of the infant in Dalla village near Bhogpur police station Jalandhar.

In a heart-wrenching development, maternal grandparents have been arrested for killing a 6-month-old girl in Jalandhar, Punjab. The maternal Diljeet Kaur and maternal grandfather Tarsem Singh were arrested for the murder of the infant in Dalla village near Bhogpur police station Jalandhar.

Sarabjit Rai, SP Jalandhar, informed the media that Salindra Kumar son of Ratan Chand, a resident of Pathankot, had complained to the police that his 6-month-old daughter was missing from home.

After this, a case was registered at Bhogpur police station on the complaint. During investigation, it was found that the maternal grandparents had murdered the girl and thrown her behind Star Dhaba near the toll plaza. Police has recovered the body of the girl.

Both the maternal grandparents have been arrested in this case. Investigations revealed disturbing family details. Salindra had married Maninder Kaur, daughter of Tarsem Singh of village Dalla, about two and a half years ago. The couple had a daughter, Aliza, now deceased.

Around 15 days ago, Salindra had left his wife and daughter at his in-laws’ house. On 7th August, Salindra went to work, and when he called his wife on 8th August, she did not mention anything about their daughter.

It has further alleged that Maninder Kaur had strained relations with her family. Burdened with caring for their daughter’s first child and unwilling to raise another, the grandparents allegedly decided to kill the baby.

The Police official further informed that the maternal grand-parents have admitted that they killed the baby because she was crying continuously for her mother and would not stop. Police said both grandparents have been produced in court and remanded to two days of police custody.

Initial investigation also revealed that on Raksha Bandhan day, Maninder left her six-month-old daughter at her maternal home and fled with her lover, intending to marry him. Police have also taken Maninder Kaur into custody for questioning, with officials saying more revelations are likely.
