Tarwinder Singh the Managing Director of DIPS School in Jalandhar was taken for questioning during an early morning police operation but was later released after no strong evidence was found against him at this stage.
A team of Fazilka Police reached Tarwinder Singh’s residence in Model Town around 5:00 AM on Friday and took him along for questioning in connection with a fraud case and the operation was conducted after informing the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police and locals came to know about it only after the team had left.
Police clarified that Tarwinder Singh was not formally arrested and he joined the investigation and cooperated with officials during questioning and after examining the documents he submitted the police allowed him to leave.
The FIR names Tarwinder Singh, Sikander Lal, Preetinder Kaur and Bhupinder Singh Makkar alias Bittu Makkar and the case includes sections related to cheating, impersonation, breach of trust, forgery and criminal conspiracy under the IPC and as per the complaint the matter is linked to sale of property despite a court stay and the complainant had also sought forensic examination of signatures.
According to the defence the matter has been examined multiple times earlier:
March 4, 2024: First complaint filed in Jalalabad
August 16, 2024: Complaint closed after investigation due to lack of evidence
January 24, 2025: Second complaint filed
September 8, 2025: Complaint closed again after inquiry by an ADGP-level officer
March 16, 2026: Petition filed in Punjab and Haryana High Court
March 23, 2026: Court sought a report from police
March 26, 2026: Fresh FIR registered, followed by raid
In both earlier inquiries officials had reportedly concluded that the allegations could not be substantiated based on available records.
Senior Advocate Mandeep Sachdev stated that the allegations against Tarwinder Singh are baseless and that important facts were not presented properly in the complaint and says that Tarwinder Singh submitted all relevant documents to the police and after reviewing them officials found no immediate grounds for arrest. It is also revealed that two civil suits remain pending.
A petition related to the matter is currently pending before the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the court had earlier asked the police to submit a report and the matter is under consideration. Police officials said the investigation is still ongoing and further action if any, will depend on the findings after detailed inquiry.
