The Jalandhar City Commissionerate is set to usher in the New Year 2026 with a strong focus on the safety and security of its citizens. Acting on the directions of the Commissioner of Police, the city police have rolled out elaborate arrangements to ensure peaceful New Year’s Eve celebrations on December 31.
According to officials, 10 nakas have been established at the city’s entry points, while 16 additional check points within the city will be manned by Station House Officers (SHOs) and Gazetted Officers (GOs). In addition, 14 GOs will remain deployed across different areas to oversee security operations and maintain public order throughout the night.
To strengthen patrolling, 33 Police Control Room (PCR) vehicles will cover various zones of the city. The traffic wing will be actively monitoring drivers with alcometers to curb drunk driving and ensure road safety.
All commercial establishments have been instructed to close by 1 a.m., and strict action will be taken against those violating the guidelines.
Extending greetings to the public, the Jalandhar City Police have urged residents to celebrate responsibly, maintain peace, and follow the issued directions. “We wish everyone a healthy, prosperous, and safe New Year 2026,” the police message read.
