Rain Continues in Punjab's Plains Temperature Drops by 7–8°C, Residents Feel Early Winter Chill

Heavy and continuous rainfall since early morning has brought life to a crawl in Jalandhar and several other districts of Punjab. The persistent downpour has caused waterlogging in many parts of the city, raising concerns among residents.

According to weather reports, the temperature across Punjab has plummeted by 7 to 8°C, making the usually mild October weather feel unexpectedly chilly.

Rain accompanied by gusty winds has been lashing several parts of the state, including Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot.

Waterlogging in Jalandhar

Waterlogging has become a major issue in Jalandhar, where continuous rain for the past 4 to 5 hours has led to clogged drains and flooded streets in some areas.

Farmers in Punjab are particularly concerned. With paddy and cotton crops ready for harvest, prolonged rain may lead to significant agricultural damage. The IMD forecasts cloudy skies and light to moderate rain in the region for the next 48 hours, keeping farmers on edge.
