The Shaurya Green Residents Welfare Society, Surya Enclave, Jalandhar, has raised serious concerns over the functioning of the local police administration.
According to the residents, tenants continue to move into apartments without any police verification, thereby disturbing the security environment.
Despite repeated written and verbal requests to the Rama Mandi police station – which is located barely five minutes from the society – no concrete action has been taken so far. This, despite government orders clearly directing police to crack down on unverified tenants.
Society President Paramveer Pathania, Vice President Gurjant Singh, and Joint Secretary Madam Sukhwinder K. Hundal, representing the delegation, stated-
“Jalandhar Police Commissioner has repeatedly issued orders that homeowners and property dealers must submit full details of their tenants to the police. Yet, no action is being taken at the local level. This directly endangers the safety of our residents. We are extremely concerned and demand immediate action from the police administration.”
The society reminded that around a year ago, a serious incident took place in the same apartment complex, where a tenant misbehaved with a young woman. At that time, too, the society had requested Rama Mandi police station to ensure tenant verification. The matter was registered at the station, but till date, no effective steps have been taken by the local police.
Residents expressed that the situation is highly alarming. They said that despite repeated orders by the Police Commissioner, if the local police station fails to implement them, it is sheer negligence that directly jeopardizes security.
The Shaurya Green Residents Welfare Society further stated that while Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur and AAP Central Constituency In-charge Nitin Kohli have been doing commendable work in the city, they now demand their immediate intervention. They urged that strict instructions must be given to Rama Mandi police station to make tenant verification mandatory. Additionally, property dealers and rental service providers who flout the rules must face strict action.
