A shocking case of alleged family violence has been reported from Hargobind Nagar in Jalandhar, where a man was allegedly attacked and killed by his son and daughter-in-law following a dispute over money.
The deceased has been identified as Daljit Singh, who worked as a security guard at a factory. According to the information available, his son Sukhpal Singh had married Ruhi in a love marriage, which Daljit Singh reportedly opposed. Following the marriage, he allegedly asked his son to leave the house.
Sukhpal subsequently began living with his wife in a rented accommodation in Hargobind Nagar. He had previously lived in Dubai and had returned to India some time ago.
According to the preliminary information, Sukhpal had been facing financial difficulties and would reportedly ask his father for money. Daljit Singh allegedly refused to provide him with money on several occasions.
On the night of August 29, Sukhpal reportedly reached his father's house along with his wife Ruhi and another person. A dispute allegedly broke out after Sukhpal asked his father for money and was refused.
During the confrontation, Daljit Singh was allegedly attacked on the head with a sharp-edged weapon. He suffered serious injuries and collapsed. He later died from his injuries.
Following information about the incident, a team from Police Station No. 8, led by Inspector Sahil Chaudhary, reached the spot.
Police took custody of the body and sent it to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
ACP Karnail Singh said a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 103 and 103(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
