However, the prevailing weather forecast has roughly been aligned with the captured screenshot, showing a drop in temperature with a warning to wear warm clothes while going out during the morning and night.

Thu Jan 1 (Today)

The forecast indicates that it will become quite cold as the sun sets, especially where the fog has formed in the low-lying areas. The winds will also be light, ranging between 4-7 km/h, and humidity levels moderate, ranging between 40-50%.

Fri Jan 2 — Sun Jan 4

Scattered clouds are also expected Monday, though the temperature remains constant at 21°C; the minimum temperature drops to 4°C. Clouds in the morning clear out to give a maximum temperature of 22°C on Tuesday; full sunlight prevails from Wednesday onwards with a maximum temperature of 22°C but a minimum of 4°C. The chances of fog are slightly higher in the second half of the week.

After Jan 7

Conditions will prevail with partly sunny skies and a high of 20 to 22°C with a low of 4 to 7°C, with the latter at times closer to 2°C as the cold wave's intensity deteriorates for North India, with less than 5% chances of rain. The citizens must take pre aplikattiюn in having warmer blankets in their homes.

Bend towards 2 degrees

- With the intensification of the winter system over northwest India, Punjab has been put on a cold-wave watch, and models suggest Jalandhar’s night temperature may plunge to as low as 2 degrees on the coldest days of this spell.

Considering the persistent drop in temperatures, the schools in Punjab have also announced an extension in the school holidays till 7th January. The residents are advised to take proper precautions to avoid falling sick due to extreme cold winters.

Residents may feel a sharper nip in the air, especially in late hours after evening and early morning as north India’s winter wave tightens its grip over Punjab.
