The city is gearing up for a massive Nagar Kirtan procession being organised to mark the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. The two-day event, scheduled for 21 and 22 November, will see major traffic diversions across Jalandhar to ensure smooth movement during the religious procession.
According to the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate, the Nagar Kirtan will start from Guru Ka Mahal and proceed through key city routes including Lidhran Road, Verka Milk Plant, Masand Chowk, New Jawahar Nagar, Patel Chowk, Garha Chowk, Jyoti Chowk, BMC Chowk, Basti Adda, Rama Mandi Chowk, and Chaheru. The procession is expected to attract thousands of devotees.
Traffic restrictions will be enforced from 3 PM to 8 PM on Thursday along several busy routes. Diversions will apply at:

Police officials have urged commuters to plan their routes wisely and follow diversion signs to avoid inconvenience.
To honour the sanctity of the Nagar Kirtan, the administration has imposed a complete ban on the sale of meat and liquor on the procession routes on 21 and 22 November.
Additional District Magistrate Amarinder Kaushik issued the order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate with the traffic plan and ensure a peaceful and respectful atmosphere during the sacred event.
