Arguably two biggest Punjabi artists Karan Aujla and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh have come under the legal scanner over their hit songs MF Gabhru and Millionaire.
Punjab Women Commission has taken cognizance of both the songs and has written a letter to the DGP seeking investigation and action in this regard.
Honey Singh's superhit song Millionaire was released 11 months ago, while Karan Aujla's superhit song 'MF GABHRU!' was released 6 days ago on YouTube.
Punjab Women Commission President Raj Lali Gill has written two letters to the DGP. In the first letter, it has been said that Yo Yo Honey Singh's song 'Millionaire' is going viral on social media. In the song, he has used very objectionable language towards women.
In the second letter, the Commission has mentioned Karan Aujla's song 'MF GABHRU!'. The Commission said that this song is also going viral on social media. In this too, objectionable words have been used for women.
The commission has ordered the DGP in its letter to issue orders to an officer of Punjab Police based in Chandigarh to investigate and take action in this regard as per law.
At the same time, the report of the action taken against both the singers in this regard should be presented in their office on 11 August at 11 am.
Chairperson of Women Commission Raj Lali Gill said that the language used cannot be tolerated. That is why I have summoned both of them. These songs will be banned.
Singers are the voice of the society. On one hand they say that they love their mother very much. On the other hand they are abusing their mother in songs. It has been learned that both the singers are abroad. But they have been called.
