One side Of flyover opened for traffic
The road construction work on the flyover built over the Beas river is still underway. However, one side of the flyover has now been opened for normal vehicles, allowing regular traffic to pass through.
Heavy vehicles are not permitted on the opened side of the flyover.
Traffic congestion reported last week
Since last week, a significant amount of traffic congestion had been reported in the area as one side of the bridge was closed due to the ongoing construction work. The traffic situation had raised concerns, particularly with a large number of Sangat expected to travel towards Beas for the Satsang.
Two alternate routes suggested
Keeping the expected rush in mind, two alternate routes were suggested for Sangat and Sewadars to ease traffic congestion during the Satsang days.
The first alternate route was Jalandhar → Kartapur → Subhanpur/Nadala → Rara Mor → Sri Hargobindpur → Ghoman → Sathiala → Dera Beas.
The second route was Jalandhar (via Pathankot Chowk) → Tanda → Sri Hargobindpur → Ghoman → Sathiala → Dera Beas.
The notice also advised old-age Sangat vehicles, Sewa Jathas and buses carrying Sangat to follow the suggested alternate routes to avoid potential traffic jams.
Sangat members were further advised to keep sufficient buffer time for their journey and avoid a last-minute rush while travelling towards Beas.
No traffic congestion reported during satsang
The alternate arrangements were made keeping in mind the possibility of heavy traffic during the Satsang to be held on 5th and 6th September
However, despite the expected rush, no traffic congestion has been reported today.
Normal traffic allowed, heavy vehicles restricted
With one side of the flyover now open, normal vehicles can use the route, while heavy vehicles continue to remain restricted as construction work is still in progress.
