Know how Jullundur Gymkhana membership will now be allotted under new rules

The decision to give Jullundur Gymkhana Club membership to new applicants will be made by Scrutiny Committee.

Jullundur Gymkhana Club is all set to undergo some changes especially when it comes to giving memberships. On Wednesday it was reported that Jullundur Gymkhana Members will be charged Rs 300 extra. Furthermore, Jullundur Gymkhana Membership fee hike is also on the cards.

Talking to True Scoop, Executive Member Nitin Behal informed that currently decision to increase Jullundur Gymkhana Membership fees has not been finalised.

However, the decision to give Jullundur Gymkhana Club membership to new applicants will be made by Scrutiny Committee. Behal also informed that it will be Jullundur Gymkhana Club's first-ever Scrutiny Committee that will be headed by DC and Senior Vice President Himanshu Aggarwal.

Jullundur Gymkhana Membership Policy

Executive Member Nitin Behal said, "There is no change in membership price as of now. The current membership fee remains Rs 12 lakh + 18% GST (via refundable security deposit)."

"Discussions on increasing the membership fee have been postponed to the next meeting," added Nitin Behal.

Jullundur Gymkhana's first-ever Scrutiny Committee

Nitin Behal further informed, "For the first time, a Scrutiny Committee will be formed to review membership applications. The committee will be headed by Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal (Senior Vice President of Gymkhana Club), along with 5–6 members including the Honorary Secretary."

"The committee will evaluate applicants based on documents and personal interactions before approving membership."

How many members are currently in the club?

"Current capping for membership stands at 4,400 members, with 4,310–4,320 active members presently. Only limited slots remain vacant," added Nitin Behal.

Jullundur Gymkhana Members to pay extra Rs 300?

The Executive Member said, "The club recently decided to contribute Rs11 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood relief. To raise this, each member was charged Rs 200 as disaster charges. An additional Rs 100 festival fund has also been collected from every member."

Hence, the reported Rs 300 extra charge on members is split into these two categories.

Proposal to install lift for guest rooms

Behal said, "Proposal to install a lift for guest rooms has been put forward. Quotations will be taken from government authorities, and budget allocation will be finalized in the upcoming meeting (likely in October).

"A new committee has been formed to oversee the development of a squash court."

Gymkhana to undergo renovation

"Due to heavy rainfall, the club’s roofs and fall ceilings suffered severe leakage and damage. A complete renovation and waterproofing of all terraces has been approved. The estimated cost of this work will be around Rs 12–12.5 lakh," concluded Nitin Behal.
