Passengers travelling between Halwara and Delhi are set to get a slightly wider window for onward connections, with Air India revising the timings of its afternoon flight from September 10.
Halwara International Airport Director Jagir Singh confirmed that the revised schedule will remain in effect until October 24, after which the winter schedule is expected to come into force.
Under the new schedule, the afternoon flight will depart Delhi at 2:25 pm and arrive at Halwara at 3:35 pm. It will then leave Halwara for Delhi at 4:05 pm, reaching Delhi at 5:15 pm.
At present, the same flight arrives at Halwara at 2:10 pm and departs for Delhi at 2:40 pm.
Morning Flight Timing To Remain Unchanged
The timing of the first, morning Air India flight will remain unchanged for now.
The morning flight will arrive at Halwara at 7:05 am and depart for Delhi at 7:55 am under the existing summer schedule.
The afternoon schedule has been revised following repeated demands from passengers for a change in timings, particularly to provide more flexibility for those travelling onward from Delhi.
Further Delay Could Be On The Cards
The timing of the afternoon flight could see another change once the winter schedule comes into effect.
Officials from the civil administration have reportedly requested airport authorities to explore the possibility of delaying the second flight further.
The request is linked to the airport's current restricted operating window. If the operating hours at Halwara are extended, the afternoon flight could potentially be pushed further into the evening.
Such a change could offer greater convenience to passengers travelling from Delhi on onward domestic and international connections, particularly those with late-evening or night flights.
Passengers Want More Flights From Halwara
While the revised schedule is being seen as a step towards improving connectivity, frequent flyers are also looking beyond timings.
There is growing demand for more flights from Halwara Airport in the coming months, with passengers hoping that an expanded flight network will make the airport a more convenient alternative for travellers from Ludhiana and surrounding areas.
For now, the September 10 schedule brings a modest but significant shift — giving passengers more time between arriving at Halwara and boarding the return flight to Delhi, while keeping open the possibility of an even later afternoon service in the winter schedule.
