The President of India has appointed nine advocates as Additional Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court for a period of two years, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice on August 20, 2026.

The appointments have been made under Clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India and will take effect from the date on which the newly appointed judges assume charge of their respective offices.

Nine Names Included in Notification

The notification lists Monica Chhibber Sharma, Harmeet Singh Deol, Pavindra Singh Chauhan, Rajesh Gaur, Puja Chopra, Sunish Bindlish, Minderjeet Yadav, Divya Sharma and Ravinder Malik as the newly appointed Additional Judges.

All nine are advocates and have been appointed to serve on the Punjab and Haryana High Court bench.

Appointments Effective After Assumption of Charge

According to the government notification, the two-year tenure will begin from the respective date each appointee assumes charge.

The appointments are part of the constitutional process for appointing Additional Judges to High Courts. Such appointments help strengthen judicial capacity and address the workload of pending cases.

Notification Issued by Law Ministry

The appointment order was issued by the Department of Justice, Appointments Division, Ministry of Law and Justice, from Jaisalmer House in New Delhi.

The official notification has been addressed to the Manager, Government of India Press, for publication in the Gazette of India.

With these appointments, the Punjab and Haryana High Court is set to receive nine new Additional Judges, with their formal judicial responsibilities beginning once they take charge.
