Know the procession and alternative routes for Guru Ravidass Ji's Parkash Purab in Jalandhar

The administration has also declared a holiday to mark the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji.

Preparations are underway to mark the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji. The concerned authorities are occupied with making all the necessary arrangements for the procession that is going to begin from Buta Mandi. Considering the celebrations and the Prime Minister’s visit that is also scheduled for February 1, the traffic police have issued a route diversion plan.

As per the reports, the traffic police have banned the entry of heavy vehicles into the city on January 31. The administration has also declared a holiday for schools for the same. On January 31, the traffic will be diverted on the city’s main roads and some roads will also be completely closed.

Route of the procession

The procession will start from Buta Mandi and pass through four major intersections of the city. The procession will begin from Buta Mandi Gurdwara Sahib. After this, the procession will pass through various locations, including Sri Guru Ravidass Chowk, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Chowk (Nakodar Chowk), Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk (Jyoti Chowk), and Patel Chowk before returning to Gurdwara Sahib at Buta Mandi.

Alternative route plan

The alternative route plan for the traffic diversions will remain in effect until February 1. This advisory is issued to prevent public inconvenience. The route plan will remain effective from 9 AM to 8 PM on January 31.

Vehicles coming from Kapurthala must take the route via Workshop Chowk. This alternative route has been designated for vehicles coming from Kapurthala. These vehicles will be able to entre and exit the city via:

1.      Kapurthala Chowk

2.      Workshop Chowk

3.      Maksudan Chowk

4.      Bhagat Singh Chowk

5.      Pathankot Chowk

6.      Chogitti Chowk

7.      PAP Chowk

8.      BSF Chowk

These routes will be crowded, the commuters are advised to traveling with vehicles on these routes. 

Routes closed from January 31 to February 1

Amid procession the traffic will remain closed on the following routes from January 31 to February 1.

1.      Pratap Pura turn

2.      Wadala Chowk

3.      Shri Guru Ravidass Chowk

4.      Tilak Nagar road (near Wadala Pind Bagh)

5.      Manbro Chowk

6.      Jaggu Chowk

7.      Mata Rani Chowk

8.      Babrik Chowk

9.      Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan turn (Nakodar road)

10.   T-point Khalsa School (Nakodar road)

11.   Nakodar Chowk

12.   Guru Amardas Chowk

13.   Samra Chowk 

The Sri Guru Ravidass Chowk and Nakodar Road Chowk will remain completely closed for all types of vehicles.
