Hampton Sky Realty claims its mobile-phone exports were genuine & verified; denies allegations of bogus exports and round-tripping

Hampton Sky Realty Limited, a company linked to Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, on Saturday issued a detailed public statement after proceedings by the Directorate of Enforcement, asserting that its mobile-phone exports were genuine and fully verified through statutory, customs and banking channels.

In its statement dated May 9, the company said it has complete faith in the legal and constitutional framework of the country as well as in the wisdom of the judiciary. It added that it is fully cooperating with all statutory authorities and will continue to do so.

The company said it entered the mobile-phone export business in May 2023, describing the sector as a key national priority under the government’s Make in India initiative and the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. It noted that India’s mobile-phone export turnover grew sharply over the years, from around Rs 1,500 crore in FY 2014-15 to nearly Rs 2 lakh crore in FY 2024-25.

Hampton Sky Realty claimed that during the export period it shipped 44,471 units of branded handsets and accessories, including Apple iPhones, AirPods, Samsung handsets and OnePlus devices. The company said each consignment was verified at multiple stages by independent authorities, including physical examination by Customs at ACC New Delhi, IMEI scanning on the ICEGATE system, OEM-level verification by Apple and Samsung, endorsement by UAE Customs and confirmation through Bank Realisation Certificates issued via authorised banking channels.

The company also stressed that every handset carried a unique 15-digit IMEI number, which was recorded on shipping documents and cross-checked by Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics through their global activation databases. According to the statement, 16,391 IMEIs were independently verified as genuine handsets activated outside India after export.

Rejecting allegations of bogus exports and round-tripping, the company said all export proceeds were received through authorised banking channels and that the entire amount was paid to domestic suppliers through banking transactions. It added that no funds were retained offshore, concealed in any account or routed back to any individual or entity.

The company also addressed GST-related concerns linked to certain domestic suppliers, saying those transactions formed only a small portion of its overall procurement. It stated that after learning of alleged supplier-side fraud, it itself filed FIR No. 0083 dated May 17, 2025, at Police Station Focal Point in Ludhiana against M/s SK Enterprises, M/s Global Traders and M/s GMG Tradelink Private Limited.

According to the statement, the company had already deposited the GST amount under dispute and is contesting the matter before the GST Appellate Authority. It claimed there is currently no loss to the government exchequer due to its transactions.

The statement concluded by saying the company would continue to cooperate with all authorities and remains confident that the truth will prevail through the due legal process.
