Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the residence of Punjab BJP vice-president Rakesh Rathore for lunch on Wednesday, September 30, during his visit to the city for the BJP’s anti-drug rally.
Rathore, a former Jalandhar mayor, was appointed Punjab BJP vice-president in August 2026.
Rathore’s late father, Thakur Ganpat Rai, was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Rathore has continued his political association with the BJP and has held several organisational positions in Punjab.
Shah’s lunch visit also brought attention to his personal outreach to senior and old party leaders in Punjab.
