A team from a bank, accompanied by police personnel, reportedly carried out an operation at the five-star Park Plaza Hotel in Ludhiana on Thursday. According to sources, rooms along with a salon area were being sealed during the action.
Senior bank and police officials were reportedly present inside the hotel, while police personnel were deployed at the main entrance. The operation has attracted attention because of the scale of the police presence and the involvement of a banking team.
Sources said the bank team reached the hotel in the morning along with police personnel. Officials reportedly remained inside for around three hours and interacted with the hotel management.
Despite the presence of officials and police personnel, the hotel's regular operations reportedly continued. Guests were seen moving in and out, while other hotel services continued as usual.
The biggest unanswered question remains the exact nature of the action.
It is currently unclear which bank initiated the proceedings, how much money is allegedly involved, what legal process is being followed and why specific rooms and the salon area were reportedly being sealed.
With no official statement from either the police or the bank, the reported loan-dispute angle remains based on sources. Further clarity is expected once the authorities officially disclose details of the operation
Park Plaza is associated with former Congress MLA Jassi Khangura, who has remained active in Punjab politics.
Khangura had left the Congress and joined the Aam Aadmi Party after the formation of the AAP government in Punjab. He later left AAP and returned to the Congress ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
His political return has kept him in the spotlight, and he has reportedly been seeking consideration for the Congress ticket from the Amargarh Assembly constituency in Malerkotla district.
The latest bank-police action has therefore placed the prominent Ludhiana property back in the spotlight, with attention now focused on what prompted the proceedings and what action, if any, follows.
