A recent murder-suicide probe was reported in Ward no. 3, Mansa. A woman along with her 3 minor children was found dead on July 2nd,2026. Police alleged that the woman killed her children and then died of suicide. The full investigation is underway and police is looking for all possible angles that could contribute to the case.
Identification of the victims
According to the preliminary investigation, the woman is identified as Sandeep Kaur, resident of Mansa. The 35-year old lives on rent with her family. She lived with her children who included 2 girls and a boy. The boy was 2 years old while both the girls were aged 13 and 8. According to Roshan Singh, her brother-in-law, Sandeep Kaur’s first husband passed away 4 years ago and lived with her mother-in-law and her three children.
Sequence of the events
According to Roshan, he was informed about the mishap by his son. He initially did not trust him and thought that her sister would be sleeping but when he went inside to check, he saw the tragedy. He alleged that his son earlier went inside the house to ask for food, but the food wasn’t ready, nut when he checked in again he came out crying. Roshan claimed that the children were lying on the bed while the woman was hanging from the fan. He immediately informed other relatives about the incident. Upon gathering of the relative and neighbors, the dead body was removed from the fan. The police was informed about the case and they reached the spot.
Preliminary investigation
Investigating officer Kulwant Singh of City Police Station-II said the initial investigation suggests that the children may have first been given a poisonous substance before being strangled. He said the woman is believed to have died by suicide after the children's deaths. However, police have not reached any final conclusion and are examining all possible angles.

Police have registered the case and are collecting evidence from the scene. Statements of family members and neighbours are also being recorded to understand what may have led to the incident.
