Amidst the ongoing controversy of Jalandhar’s Mariton Hotel, where a CCTV footage of a heated altercation between the partners of the Mariton Hotel surfaced online has now taken another turn. After the press conference of, hotel’s MD Dr. Paramjit Singh Marwaha, now the other party has also come forward and cleared their stance and put forth their side. Following the scuffle, a FIR had been registered against Yashpal Dua, Gulshan Dua, Umesh Dua, Shivi Dua and some others in the case at Rama Mandi police station, Jalandhar. The case has been booked under the Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Now, daughter of Yashpal Dua has addressed a press conference sharing the details of the incident from their side. Talking about the series of the event of February 12 she explains that the family had gathered at the Mariton Hotel to celebrate the birthday of Yash Dua’s granddaughter and a dance party was underway.
She alleges that Dr. Paramjit Marwaha arrived at the event uninvited and started using abusive slurs for the woman present at the function, later while leaving he even threatened that he would deal with them later. Following which, she explains that as soon as she reached downstairs, she saw him scuffling with her father and some other people present there.
She alleges that Dr. Paramjit Marwaha has a classist mindset and has been constantly harassing her family. She adds that all this harassment has pushed her father into depression.
Yashpal Dua’s daughter also shares her family’s plight and explains that Dr. Marwaha has been constantly belittling them by mentioning that they have a very small share in the hotel, she exclaims that “Somebody who publicly expresses his mindset by belittling a small shareholder with no second thought, just imagine how he must be treating us privately.” She adds that he is trying to flaunt his wealth and power.
Discussing the events of the altercation, she explains that there was no dispute or quarrel among them from their side and that Dr. Marwaha was just looking for an excuse to stir up trouble. Mentioning one of the other partners, Kukreja, she says that he was sitting along with Dr. Paramjit Singh Marwaha but he did not do anything to stop the fight when the altercation was taking place and just stood there being a spectator.
She also alleges that Dr. Paramjit Singh Marwaha has issues with his own brother, who owns 15% stake in the hotel and does not get along with him.
Talking about the turban removal incident, she says that no disrespect was done from their part, they respect every religion and have utmost respect for Sikhism as well. She explains the turban fell down during the altercation but it was respectfully picked and placed aside. She mentions that this is a tactic being used by Dr. Marwaha to frame their family under the guise of religion.
Concluding her statement she adds that a mail has already been sent to SHO, Rama Mandi regarding the same and they will soon get a written complaint registered.
