A shocking incident of daylight robbery and murder has sent shockwaves through Malia Kalan village in Tarn Taran, where two unidentified masked men allegedly entered a house, looted valuables and killed a woman present inside.
The incident has triggered a major police investigation, with officers examining how the woman was killed and what led to the fatal attack.
Woman Killed During Daylight Robbery
The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Kuldeep Kaur, wife of Lakhwinder Singh, also known as Lakhi.
According to the family, two unidentified men allegedly entered the house during the daytime and carried out the robbery. The woman was subsequently found dead.
Police have taken the body into custody and initiated further investigation.
₹70,000 Cash, Gold Jewellery Reportedly Missing
Kuldeep Kaur’s husband, retired Army personnel Lakhwinder Singh, told police that around ₹70,000 in cash was missing from the house.
He also reported that gold jewellery, including earrings, a chain and a ring, had allegedly been taken.
The exact value of the stolen jewellery is yet to be established.
Suspects Seen Arriving on Motorcycle
According to the information available so far, the two unidentified suspects arrived on a motorcycle.
They allegedly entered the house at around 10:52 am and left approximately 11:20 am. At the time of the incident, the couple’s son was reportedly away at school.
The police are examining CCTV footage and other available evidence to identify the suspects and reconstruct their movements before and after the crime.
Raksha Bandhan Turns Into a Day of Mourning
The incident occurred on Raksha Bandhan, turning what was supposed to be a day of celebration into one of grief for the family.
Kuldeep’s brother was reportedly in England and was expecting to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with his sister. Instead, he received the shocking news of her death.
He is now returning to India from England following the tragedy. The incident has left the family devastated and the village in shock.
Senior Police Team Reaches Spot
Soon after the incident was reported, DSP Investigation Shiv Darshan Singh and the Station House Officer of the concerned police station reached the spot along with a police team.
Investigators have begun examining the circumstances surrounding the murder and robbery.
The motive behind the killing and the identities of the suspects remain unclear. Police are investigating whether the woman was specifically targeted or whether the killing occurred during the alleged robbery.
