On Wednesday afternoon, a major incident of robbery took place in Jalandhar’s Lajpat Nagar. Three masked robbers barged into a house in the lane of Congress councillor Jasleen Sethi and held a woman hostage at knifepoint.
The victim, Lajpat Nagar resident Praveen Khanna, said she was alone at home in the afternoon when the doorbell rang. As soon as she opened the door, three masked men standing outside forced their way in.
Before she could react, two of them gagged her and dragged her into a room.
One of the robbers held the woman hostage, while the other two removed her two gold bangles, tops and ring.
The accused then searched the house and took ₹17,000 in cash from a wardrobe.
The three accused then fled the scene on a motorcycle.
Once the robbers left, the woman raised an alarm, following which locals gathered and immediately informed the police of Police Station Division No. 6.
On receiving the information, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
