Massive blast at Jalandhar–Hoshiarpur Highway after pickup collides with gas tanker; 50 injured in fire

The explosion was so intense that at least 50 suffered burns in the fire and even nearby shops were impacted.

In a horrific development, a major blast was reported village Mandiala of Hoshiarpur late at night. The explosion took place after the Mahindra Pick-up collided with a gas tanker. The explosion was so intense that at least 50 suffered burns in the fire and even nearby shops were impacted.

Around 2 dozen fire tenders were sent control the fire. The accident was so big that shops or houses within a radius of 1 km got caught in the fire after the gas leaked.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh reached the spot as well. While talking to the media, he said that the accident is very big, nothing can be said yet, many people have been caught in the fire.

The tanker was filled with LPG gas. It overturned some distance from the Hindustan Petroleum Bottling Plant located in Mandiala on the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur Highway.

As per the locals, due to the huge fire, some cylinders kept in nearby houses also exploded, due to which the fire spread even faster. A large number of people living in nearby shops and houses were burnt in the accident. Ambulances from Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur and a large number of private ambulances also reached the spot to bring the injured.
