A massive fire broke out in Sandeep sweet shop in Tanda, Hoshiarpur after there was leakage in gas that led to the explosion of gas cylinder. The rescue team reached at the right time and took all the measures to control the fire. Only before they could reach, 4-5 people were already caught up in fire and material worth several lakhs was destroyed. In busy market areas, these accidents can quickly turn into major disasters because of the presence of flammable materials and large crowds. Fire tenders and brigades from the local municipal corporation were immediately called to the scene.
The famous Sandeep sweet shop of Tanda caught up major fire immediately after leakage of a gas cylinder and within seconds took the whole property in its fire. The cylinder leaked in the fast food section of the sweet shop. The eyewitnesses state that the fire was so tense that it seemed like somebody lit up firecrackers in the colony. The shutters of the nearby and adjacent shops started shaking and people got terrified looking at the visuals.
Getting the information of fire, the fire department reached at the location. With the help of the fire officials ands neighbours they were able to get hold of the fire and were successful in lowering its intensity. Before the fire fighters could reach the sweet shop already 4-5 people caught fire and they were sent to the nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police and local authorities cordoned off the affected stretch of the road to manage traffic and crowd control.
The owner of the shop faced a huge a loss and the raw material of several lakhs turned into ashes and the property also was severly damaged. The police and high officials are looking for the right reasons of fire and investigating the matter closely and whether all required safety measures were being followed at the establishment. Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported in the incident.
