A grand Nagar Kirtan will be organized in Jalandhar on November 1 to mark the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal reviewed the ongoing preparations and instructed officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for security, traffic, sanitation, and decoration along the route.
During a meeting with representatives of Singh Sabhas, service societies, and gurdwara committees at the District Administrative Complex, the DC directed the police department to ensure smooth traffic flow and adequate security during the procession. He also asked the officials to prepare a route plan for public convenience.
Dr. Agarwal instructed the municipal corporation officers to ensure cleanliness along the entire route and decorate key locations and intersections. He also emphasized timely repairs of damaged roads, proper functioning of streetlights, and raising of low-hanging electricity wires if required. Additionally, arrangements for medical teams, drinking water, temporary toilets, fire brigades, and uninterrupted power supply are to be completed before the event.
The DC assured that the district administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring smooth management of the event and warned that negligence by any department will not be tolerated.
Nagar Kirtan Route:
The Nagar Kirtan will start at 10:00 AM on November 1 from Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Gobindgarh Mohalla, and will pass through the following major points:
S.D. College, Bharat Soda Water, Mandi Phantonganj, Gurdwara Diwan Asthan, Milap Chowk, Phagwara Gate, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Panj Peer, Khingra Gate, Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Chowk, Adda Hoshiarpur, Mai Hira Gate, Patel Chowk, Basti Adda (GT Road), Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, Rainak Bazaar, and will finally conclude at Gurdwara Diwan Asthan, Central Town.
During the procession, traffic will remain diverted on these routes, and residents are advised to use alternate roads to avoid inconvenience. The police have made comprehensive security arrangements to ensure the Nagar Kirtan proceeds peacefully and smoothly.
