Nawanshahr, August 8: A gunfight broke out between the Nawanshahr CIA staff and suspected gangsters near Vishwakarma Temple on Musaapur Road, triggering panic in the area.
According to preliminary information, four motorcycle-borne youths allegedly opened fire near the temple. The CIA police team retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
During the incident, two youths sustained bullet injuries to their legs. One of the youths was reportedly injured in the police firing. A senior constable, identified as Parmjit, was also injured during the encounter.
All the injured, including the police personnel, were taken to Civil Hospital, Nawanshahr, for medical treatment.
Police teams are investigating the incident and are working to establish the identities of the youths involved and the circumstances that led to the firing. Further details are awaited.
