NHS Hospital Launches Scoliosis Surgery – First in the Region

NHS Hospital today achieved a major milestone by formally launching Scoliosis Surgery services.

NHS Hospital today achieved a major milestone by formally launching Scoliosis Surgery services, becoming the first hospital in the region to provide advanced treatment for children and adults suffering from spinal deformities.

The program was inaugurated by Dr. Shubhang Aggarwal, Director & Head of Orthopaedics, and Dr. Saransh Gupta, Orthopaedic and Paediatric Spine Surgeon. The launch was marked by a Free Scoliosis Screening and Consultation Camp at NHS Hospital, which drew an overwhelming response with more than 50 patients attending the camp.

During the camp, patients received detailed advice on how to manage spinal deformities, including non-surgical treatment options, exercises, and long-term care strategies. Importantly, a group of patients requiring corrective surgery were identified. NHS Hospital announced that these surgeries will be carried out at special concession rates, reaffirming its commitment to making advanced care accessible and affordable.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Shubhang Aggarwal said:

“With this launch, families in Punjab and nearby states will no longer need to travel to Delhi or South India for scoliosis treatment. Our goal is to ensure that every patient gets the right guidance and treatment—whether through rehabilitation or surgery—without financial burden.”

Dr. Saransh Gupta added:

“Scoliosis surgery requires high precision, expertise, and specialised infrastructure. We are proud to bring this facility to Jalandhar at NHS Hospital where such surgery will be now carried out in routine.”

With this initiative, NHS Hospital Jalandhar continues to strengthen its position as a Centre of Excellence in Orthopaedics and Spine Care, offering international standards, advanced technology, and patient-focused treatment.
