Nitin Kohli inaugurates Punjab State Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament, PBA's Ritin Khanna says event getting overwhelming response

Indian Oil Punjab State Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament began in Jalandhar. 350 Players from 23 districts to battle in 10 exciting events.

Jalandhar, 14 August 2025 – The Indian Oil Punjab State Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament kicked off today at the prestigious Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium, Jalandhar. The four-day event, organized under the aegis of the Punjab Badminton Association, will run from 14th to 17th August 2025.

Sharing the details, PBA Honorary Secretary Ritin Khanna informed that the tournament has attracted an overwhelming response with 500 entries from 350 players representing 23 districts across Punjab. Competitions are being held in 10 events across the Under-15 and Under-17 age categories for boys and girls.

The tournament was inaugurated by Chief Guest Sh. Nitin Kohli, President, Hockey Punjab who lauded the efforts of the association in promoting badminton at the grassroots level. The finals will be played on 17th August, where winners will be awarded cash prizes along with other attractive rewards.

Special arrangements have been made for food and beverages to ensure the comfort of all players and coaches throughout the tournament.

In a touching gesture, the association paid a special tribute to the family of Late Coach S. Harjinder Singh Waraich, recognizing his invaluable contributions to the sport. Ms.Meena Sharma Coach and mother of international players Tanvi and radhika was also honoured by the Chief Guest.

DBA Treasurer Palwinder Juneja,Sumit Sharma,Ajay Chopra,Sachin Ratti,Varun Kumar and others were also present on the occasion.
