No shortage of LPG, petrol & diesel in Punjab; officials debunk rumors

Director of Food and Supply department, Varinder Kumar Sharma says that Punjab currently has sufficient stock of petrol, diesel and LPG

Amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States, concerns have been mounting over its impact on India. Reportedly, speculations are being made around the shortage of petrol, diesel and LPG in Punjab, however officials have stated otherwise.

Sufficient stock of petrol, diesel & LPG

Director of Food and Supply department, Varinder Kumar Sharma says that Punjab currently has sufficient stock of petrol and diesel and assured people that this is not a matter of concern. “There is adequate supply of petrol and diesel in Punjab and there is no need for hoarding,” Sharma said.

He also shares that the supply of LPG cylinders is also sufficient in the state, and says that the availability of LPG for household consumers remains unaffected.

Commercial supply of LPG controlled

Sharma explains that amid the Middle East conflict, the supply for commercial users has been controlled to ensure that the domestic consumers do not face any shortage and affirms that household LPG supply is continuing normally. He further adds that essential sectors such as medical, health and educational institutions are not included among these restrictions and are receiving regular LPG supply.

This statement comes at a time when global tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States have started to influence the energy market around the globe.

LPG cylinder prices up

As per the recent reports, while petrol and diesel prices in India have not seen any immediate change, LPG cylinder prices have increased across the country. Domestic LPG cylinders have become costlier by ₹60, while commercial LPG cylinders have seen a price rise of ₹115.

Authorities have reiterated that despite the price increase, there is no disruption in household LPG supply in Punjab and the situation remains under control.
