Oil tanker hits parked car on Jalandhar highway; Driver and youths escape unhurt

While attempting to overtake, tanker driver could not see the parked car in time. He applied the brakes but was unable to avoid the collision.

Car Parked After Tyre Puncture

A road accident was reported at Rama Mandi Chowk in Jalandhar after an oil tanker collided with a car parked along the highway. The incident took place late Thursday evening.

According to the car occupants, the vehicle had developed a tyre puncture while they were travelling. The driver pulled the car over to the side of the highway and was changing the tyre when the tanker approached from behind.

Rear of Car Damaged in Collision

The impact was strong enough to severely damage the rear portion of the car. However, the occupants had a narrow escape and no injuries were reported in the accident.

Following the collision, a crowd gathered at the spot, while the damaged vehicles caused disruption for motorists passing through the busy stretch.

Tanker Driver Says Car Was Not Visible

The oil tanker driver, identified as Bau, said he was travelling from Ludhiana when the accident occurred. He claimed that the car was parked on the roadside, while vehicles were also present on the other side of the road.

According to him, while attempting to overtake, he could not see the parked car in time. He applied the brakes but was unable to avoid the collision.

The tanker driver also said that the vehicle owners had been informed about the accident and that the damage caused to the car would be compensated.

Rama Mandi Police Reach Spot

Rama Mandi police were informed about the accident and reached the location shortly afterwards. The police assessed the situation and had the vehicles moved to the side of the highway to clear the road.

No injuries have been reported so far, and further details regarding the circumstances of the collision are awaited
