The incident, which was captured on video and widely circulated on social media, disrupted both rail and road traffic for some time before the vehicle was removed from the tracks.

According to eyewitnesses, the police official was driving the government PCR vehicle in an intoxicated state when he lost control and drove it onto the railway tracks near the crossing. Locals claimed the officer appeared heavily drunk and was unable to walk properly after stepping out of the vehicle.

The in-charge of Annagarh police post reached the spot with a team, brought the situation under control and escorted the allegedly intoxicated ASI away for further action. The PCR vehicle was subsequently removed from the railway tracks, restoring normal movement of both rail and road traffic.

Reacting to the incident, ADCP City-1 Vishaljit Singh said an inquiry has been initiated. He stated that if the ASI is found guilty, strict departmental action will be taken in accordance with service rules.
